Common Admission Test (CAT) is one of the premier Management Entrance exams. It is conducted by the IIMs. Prestigious IIMs are considered to be one of the Best Institutes in India to pursuean MBA. As of now there are 20 IIMs in India located in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Lucknow, Kozhikode, Indore, Shillong, Ranchi, Raipur, Rohtak, Tiriuchirappalli, Udaipur, Kashipur, Bodh Gaya, Amritsar, Vishakhapatnam, Sambalpur, Sirmaur, Nagpur and Jammu. Apart from the IIMs, there are several other Top B schools as well in India like MDI Gurgaon, IMT Ghaziabad, TAPMI Manipal etc. who accept CAT scores for admission. More than 2 Lakhs students take the CAT test every year for admission in IIMs which has 1500+ seats and in the other Top colleges which has around 2000 seats.
CAT originally started as a paper pencil (Offline) Test but has joined the digital bandwagon and has become online Test in the past few years. Till 2019, there were 100 Questions in CAT to be answered in 180 minutes divided into three sections and two sessions. After Covid-19, CAT has been conducted in three sessions. Consequently, the duration has been reduced to 120 minutes and the Number of Questions to 66 though the number of sections is still three. These sections are Verbal Ability, Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning having 24, 22 & 20 Questions respectively. Each of these sections have a Sectional Constraint bound by time which means one can work on a particular section for only 40 minutes.
Verbal Ability: This section aims to check the competence of an aspirant on English. Skills The main areas to be studied here are Vocabulary, Grammar & Reading Comprehension.
Quantitative Aptitude: This section aims to check the competence of an aspirant in the area of fundamental Mathematics. The main areas to be studied here are Number System, Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Logarithms, Permutation & Combination, Probability, Functions etc.
Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning: This section aims to check the competence of an aspirant in the areas of calculative ability & Thought process. The main area to be studied here is Pictorial representation of Data & Analytical & Logical Reasoning.
Majority of questions in CAT are MCQs but there are certain questions where the answer has to be keyed in. An aspirant fetched 3 marks for every correct answer but there is a negative marking of -1 for every incorrect answer. However, for the non-MCQs answer(TITA), there is no negative marking.

XAT or Xavier Aptitude Test is a national level MBA entrance exam conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur for the admission to post graduate management programmes at over 150 B-schools across India. It is a computer based test consisting of subjective type questions.
XAT has become an online test and aspirants will take the test online beginning January 2018. The Duration of the test will be 3 Hours and 30 Minutes.
There are three parts in XAT.
Part 1: Objective, Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation, Decision Making, Verbal & Logical Ability with around 76 Questions in 175 Minutes
Part 2: Mock Keyboard Testing for 5 Minutes
Paper 3: Objective + Subjective, General Knowledge, Essay Writing comprising of about 25 GK questions and 1 Analytical Essay Writing
The total number of questions in Part 1 is around 76. In Part 3, there are 25 objective type questions and one Analytical Essay writing question.
Each question carries 1 mark and for each incorrect answer, there is negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. However, there is an additional negative marking of 0.10 marks for each unattempted question if the number of unattempted questions are above 8.
The scores from GK and AEW sections are exclusively utilised by XLRI for its final selection process.
PwD candidates are allowed an additional 20 minutes for every hour.

Symbiosis National Aptitude Programme (SNAP) is a common entrance test for MBA programmes at 15 institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU) at Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Nagpur. Students are shortlisted on the basis of the SNAP test score and called for the Personal Interview and Written Ability Test (PI-WAT) on which final selection is done.
The SNAP test is of 60 minutes, consists of 60 questions which is in an MCQ format where each question has 4 options from which correct option has to be selected. Each question carries 1 mark and for every wrong answer 25% of marks will be deducted. SNAP is conducted three times in the month of December and students can take all the three attempts. The best percentile of the three would be considered for final admission The paper pattern is divided into three sections viz.
General English, Reading Comprehension, Verbal Reasoning Verbal Ability : 15 Questions
Analytical & Logical Reasoning : 25 Questions
Quantitative, Data Interpretation & Data Sufficiency: 20 Questions
